I made a shortcut on the start menu, pointing to a search engine definition file.

(Find this file by SB menu Tools/Shortcuts/Application Data/QuickSearch Folder.)

I then right-clicked the shortcut, clicked Properties and set it to a keyboard shortcut.

Now, to search using that definition, I can just hit the keyboard shortcut, enter the keyword and press enter. Or shift+enter, for a new tab.

I'm pretty sure you need to have a shortcut on the start menu or the desktop, to be able to associate it with a keyboard shortcut.

A most excellent thing you have found and pointed out. I had not seen this yet. I will take the liberty of elaborating.

The files with the qseg (QSEG) file extension are set to open with SlimBrowser and lead to slimbrowser opening an independent quick search text entry dialog window for you to use to perform a search using the particular search engine defined within that file.

You can view and change and create your own contents of qseg files by opening them with Notepad.

You can associate any of these qseg search definition files with keyboard shortcuts and open and run them when Slimbrowser is not already running. After the file is called windows will run Slimbrowser which will open the quick search text entry dialog window and after you type in your keywords and press Enter (or click OK) the search results will be displayed by Slimbrowser as usual via the search engine webpage.

Working within windows you are limited to keyboard shortcuts that windows allows. You can also use a variety of third party programs that allow greater use of the keyboard and more harddrive locations. One such I would recommend is called WinKey.

Relationships are ours to make; we define them, day by day,
by who we choose to love and how we choose to love them.
And, by these choices, define ourselves. ~~~Richard N. Patterson
