Hello Group.

I had a crash. I renistalled XP Pro. I save everything prior to the reinstall, so not a problem. I went in and saved all my SB favorites prior to the reinstall, including subfolders. I saved the file in 4 places just to be sure, including emailing it to myself.

I also saved the entire SB folder.

When I imported my SB Favorites they were not there. When I looked at the porperties it was only a 4KB size file. Way too small for 4+ years of Favorites. Apparently SB did not save them completely even tough it said that it had exported them successfully.

Is it possible to recover my favorites from the SB Folder that I did save?

Any help would be appreciated.

I can be emailed to mailto:uct@comcast.net or you can call me 24/7 on 804-332-5979 Thanks, James

SlimBrowser does not save your Favorites. It uses the Favorites folder that Internet Explorer uses, which is stored in your profile directory, and, aptly enough, called "Favorites". If you didn't back that up (and subsequently restore it), I'm sorry to tell you that they're gone, and there's really nothing you can do unless you happen to have a full backup of the hard drive from which you can restore them.

Hi Hans,

So even though I saved the entire SB folder the Favorites are not in there. I should have opened IE and saved the favorites there and then imported them from what you are saying. SB should say this by way of a POUP when you go to save your favorites.

IN the past I have saved all of the SB favorites following the same procedure with no complications and then at times it has done the same.

What i figures out was that you need3d to look at the size of the file after exporting the FAV to check the size. If small then NO good so repeat. I forgot to look at the file once saved to check the size, which I have done before, once I realized that SB at times will not properly save them and you have to do it until it gets them all.

This is a big mess.

Thanks,

James

SlimBrowser does not have any "favorites" nor "bookmarks". It uses the ones from Internet Explorer. If you save a website as a Favorite while using SlimBrowser, it's saved to the Internet Explorer Favorite's folder.

You should have backed up your user profile. You know, My Documents, My Music, My Videos, FAVORITES, etc... :?

Halifax1, Hans is right. Favorites are not saved to the slimbrowser folder. Instead, they are typically stored in the following location in XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Favorites

It is the Favorites folder that needed to be saved.

BTW, why would you give out your phone number online?
