Does SlimBrowser benefit from IE 9 engine ?

Post by josephrot » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:50 pm

Since SlimBrowser is "built" atop or is priviliged to use the computer's installed Internet Explorer engine "parts"...

Does SlimBrowser benefit from the NEW IE 9 engine and internals?

Another way to ask might be:

Is the "combination" of SlimBrowser 5.01.021 and the now new MS Internet Explorer 9 any faster overall, more efficient, or any more or less preferred, than if SlimBrowser 5.01.021 was operating with the now older IE 8 engine installed. interesting thought and a question worth discussing.

I think there are two factors involved

1. Slimbrowser has to already be making use of or capable of making use of any IE9 changes relevant to your question

2. Such IE9 changes have to actually be performance improvements...

Reading the change log I note that changes were made to Slimbrowser 5.01.015 which improved support for IE9. So if IE9 has been installed from that build forward we should notice—if there is anything to notice—if IE9 is an improvement for the Slimbrowser GUI.

Frankly I wasn't paying attention to notice anything myself. Anyone else?
