I have the same crawl issue but after I upgrade IE7 to IE8, it's working fine.

I'm trying Maxthon also. In the past week it has only frozen once, much less frequently than SB. I had to install an older version of Maxthon, though, to get Roboform to work.

Maybe it worths a try to upgrade to IE8 and see if you get the same issues. Also do you think it's the new version of slim browser issue? which version do you use now?

Tried all versions of Slim Browser. Will try IE8 on my wifes computer and update you if the freezing stops. I do not like some of the features, or lack of features of IE8, like no FTP support.

Hi Catherine, IE8 fixed the freezing issue on 2 computers! Thanks for the tip.

Slim Browser is still the best browser.

Well, I tried disabling the items in Download Control but there was no visible improvement; the lack of auto-login made me revert the changes right away.

With IE6-SP1 as background (since I'm running Win98SE), the most persistent hanging happens at the MSFN.org forums board, usually on pages with many posts. The whole browser crawls and the system itself becomes slow at the same time (CPU at 100%).

Other issues include an occasional script error that fails to load the navigational panel at MSDN (needs Clean traces and Refresh to fix) and already reported page formatting issues at IMDB.com.

Adobe Flash is permanently disabled on my system through Nir Sofer's TurnFlash (doesn't appear to work in XP, dunno about others).

If it's of any importance, here's the contents of my SBROWSER.ini; I could also post a Dr.Watson system snapsot on demand:

That's good to know. Also sometimes I keep the slim browser open for days and it will become a little slow. After I close that one and open a new one, it will speed up again.

Re: Certain sites bring SB to a crawl

I came today to open a fresh thread, but seems THIS is already here!

I've timed my favourite site in 7 browsers, and SB is consistently and substantially slower than all the rest. :( I fear unless I can find a remedy I'll be leaving my favourite browser of many years.

Test webpage: http://www.arcadeboss.com
With each browser I opened that page first, then timed how long between an "F5" and the page appearing to have completely loaded. TWO runs for each browser, just as a check of consistency.

Slim = 27sec, 26sec
Safari = 16, 16
Chrome = 16, 16
IE8 = 12, 12
Opera = 6, 9, 14, 13 !?
Firefox = 11, 11
Flock = 10, 9

Now these figures are just approximate, but the DO seem to show a very clear pattern, and (astonishingly!?) Slim is waaaay behind the rest.
Can anyone explain this - or better still offer any suggestion to improve it ?

I have latest version of Flash and of most browsers etc - do NOT use in page Ad Filter or URL Filter, and find that disabling Active Scripting may knock SB down from 27secs to 24. Big deal! ;-)

Really have to wonder what's up with your system...that website opened (fully) in 3.1 seconds for me, using SlimBrowser. 8)

Take a look then Hans . . . . at one of the "real" systems out here in the real world - a system that works just fine everywhere - EXCEPT on SlimBrowser.

About Flock (went there moments ago, out of curiosity):
1. Doesn't even install on my system (Win98SE); SlimBrowser does and works quite fine
2. 11.9MB installation kit :shock: !!! SlimBrowser is 1.9MB.

Excuse me, but SlimBrowser passes both of the above with flying colors. Have fun with that bloatware! :lol:

P.S. That gaming site... loaded here in 3.5 seconds with SlimBrowser on a 667MHz CPU. 8)
