Why SlimBrowser is faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer?
SlimBrowser is based on trident rendering engine, the same engine used by Microsoft Internet Explorer. The version of rendering engine used by SlimBrowser depends on the version of Internet Explorer installed on your system. SlimBrowser is not meant to be Internet Explore replacement. Instead, it's meant to be an Internet Explorer enhancement. Thus, you are recommended to update to latest version of Internet Explorer so that SlimBrowser can achieve the same level of security and performance offered by the latest version of Internet Explorer. At this time, Internet Explorer 8.0 is recommended for people who are using at least Windows XP.
However, in most cases, SlimBrowser has faster speed and response time in terms of start up, creating new tabs and web page navigation compared with Internet Explorer. The fundamental reason is that SlimBrowser doesn't load any of the plugins for Internet Explorer by default. With the huge amount of internetexplorer plugins floating around on internet, these plugins can slow down the speed of your web browser significantly and lead to a lot more crashes. SlimBrowser will only load these plugins upon the explicit approval of the users, thus avoiding unnecessary slowdown and crashes.
